The PROXY-SERVICE Ural company has installed the Tillypad XL hospitality management system in the Pyaniy Straus dance pub (literally, the Drunken Ostrich). The company has thereby given the pub a unique way of registering the amount of draft beer that is served.Pyaniy Straus is an ingenious new project implemented in Chelyabinsk by the Evropa hospitality center. The dance pub is set to be one of the most popular locations in the city. On the menu, you can find examples of the best 'beer cuisine' from around the world. Those who prefer cocktails have a choice of 70 drinks. The dance pub format means that the guests will be entertained by a D.J and the best of the city's cover bands. The state-of-the-art stage equipment in the pub also guarantees high-quality sound and impressive light shows. Karaoke fans will enjoy a sound-proof hall where they will find background singers and voice-processing equipment, which should even allow them to imitate Elvis Presley. However, the most fascinating feature of the pub is its own brewery and beer-dispensed through a special beer pipe. The beer pipe is connected to the bar and tables via faucets, meaning that any guest can work as a proxy barman by pouring beer into glasses for his friends while sitting at his own table. In order to calculate the amount of beer consumed by customers, PROXY-SERVICE Ural has designed BeerCount technology, which is fully integrated with the Tillypad XL hospitality management system. BeerCount has two modes of operation: "all day" and "tables".The former allows the beer to be distributed only through the bar. Once a new business day is opened in Tillypad XL, the beer pipe faucets are automatically opened at the bar counter and meter readings are registered. After the business day is closed, the faucets also close and meter readings are registered again. Then a stock movement record is automatically generated to transport the beer from brewery to bar. Comparison of the data from the sales system and the meter readings makes it possible to assess the actual performance of the bar.The second mode is designed to register the amount of beer dispensed at tables. Each table is equipped with faucets and a monitor to display beer brands and the amount consumed. A waiter opens an account for a particular table using iPod, and Tillypad XL immediately unblocks the faucets on the table. Meter readings are taken when the bills are forwarded for payment. A stock movement record will also be generated after the close of a business day.Denis Tukbayev, director of PROXY-SERVICE Ural, observes: "The Tillypad XL hospitality management system allows the BeerCount technology to be fully integrated. This technology is provided with its own database where data are logged every 5 seconds. However, the beer-counting system is entirely controlled by Tillypad XL. Because of this decision, our managers get the most out of the pub's features. Moreover, we can get actual information about the bar performance and find the difference between the sales system output and actual beer consumption."
